Build and Solidify Canadian Pharmacy Knowledge and Skills With NAPRA’s DTLM

The Diagnostic Tool and Learning Modules (DTLM) of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) is an interactive online learning program for those who wish to increase their understanding of the knowledge and skills required for pharmacy practice in a Canadian setting. It is also intended for those preparing to meet the licensure requirements of the pharmacy regulatory authorities (PRAs) in their respective jurisdictions.

A Dynamic Bilingual Online Learning Program

The DTLM program, offered in English and French, covers three areas of knowledge: the Canadian healthcare system, cultural diversity and awareness, and professional communication.

This unique online resource allows participants to study anytime, from anywhere, and at their own pace. DTLM modules are available for one year from the date of registration. Participants will receive a certificate once all program components are completed. Certificates of completion for individual components may also be provided upon request.

Zero Conditions to Access the Program

There are no prerequisites to enrol in the DTLM program. The learning modules offer pertinent information to:

  • Internationally educated pharmacy professionals preparing for licensure in Canada.
  • Pharmacy professionals seeking to refresh their knowledge of aspects of their practice, especially as concerns communications skills as well as the impact of culture and diversity on the profession.
  • Students in Canada who wish to round out their knowledge of Canadian practice

A Unique Learning Opportunity

Through this program, you will learn to:

  • Define clearly what “professionalism” entails within the Canadian healthcare context and how pharmacy professionals in Canada, both as individuals and as a profession, are expected to meet the expectations of their patients, colleagues, regulators, and the public at large.
  • Develop and strengthen your awareness of the impact of Canada’s culturally rich and diverse society on various aspects of pharmacy practice.
  • Communicate using effective and inclusive language to facilitate clear, safe, culturally sensitive, and ethical interactions with patients, fellow professionals, and other interested parties.

The DTLM guides you through these (and many more) key topics of immediate relevance to pharmacy practice in a Canadian setting. The learning content is dynamic and engaging, incorporating short written explanations, videos, interactive activities, and simulations to aid understanding and absorption of the topic under consideration. Information is presented in easy-to-follow bite-sized lessons allowing you to undertake your learning in a manageable and effective manner.

Note: The DTLM program is not accredited by the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) for continuing education (CE) credits but may still be noted as part of participants’ CE depending on the requirements of the PRA in any given jurisdiction.
